A Dance for 65 Roses – Adult Prom
A Dance for 65 Roses – Adult Prom is an event that Dan (from DC Entertainment) and his wife Brianne Carpenter host at the Farrington Place annually. This year, Dan & Brianne with the help of all of those in attendance, raised $4140 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.Â
People who live with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) face daily challenges in managing their condition. They must adhere to a strict treatment regimen. Medications and therapies, to prevent complications such as lung infections and digestive problems. CFÂ can also affect their ability to participate in physical activities and social events due to fatigue or respiratory symptoms. Despite these challenges, many individuals with CF lead fulfilling lives. Remaining hopeful for new advancements in treatment options that may one day lead to a cure.
Carriers of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) are individuals who carry one copy of the CFTR gene mutation. They do not have the disease. While carriers do not typically experience symptoms, they can pass the mutated gene to their offspring. It is estimated that around 1 in 25 people of European descent carries a CFTR mutation. Genetic testing can identify carriers, allowing for informed family planning decisions and early intervention if a child is at risk of developing the disease.
The treatment of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) typically involves a multi-disciplinary approach that aims to manage symptoms, prevent complications, and improve quality of life. Medications are a critical component of CF treatment. Lung transplantation is an option for individuals with severe lung damage.
Research into new treatments for CF is ongoing. Â Promising advancements in gene therapy which works by replacing the faulty CFTR gene or repairing it at the molecular level . It holds great promise as a potential cure for this debilitating disease.
